WE AM SORRY

Friends, if you look back at the history of this comic–by looking at the dates in the archive, or that little calendar up in the top right of the page–you will see that we have kept a consistent release schedule from the beginning. Every week we release a new page, and most every week we release two new pages. Like clockwork. So it is with great shame that I come before you today and acknowledge that we have not released any pages this week and, worse, I have not offered any kind of explanation or apology until now. Friends, you deserve better.

All I can say is that life gets in the way sometimes. Don’t worry, I am still committed to this comic–it’s the last thing I think about as I go to sleep at night, and it’s what gets me out of bed in the morning. Please forgive us this temporary aberration, and stay tuned, because we have some great stuff coming next week.

I also have some exciting news!

*We–by which I mean Abi, Sam, and Leighton–will be at SPACE, the Small Press and Alternative Comics Expo this year! That’s going to be March 25 – 26 in Columbus, Ohio. If you’re in the area, come by and say hi.

*We will be debuting The Electric Team #4 at SPACE! It is the finest comic that we have ever made, and we are eager for you to see it. It’s only five dollars. If you start saving now, it shouldn’t be a problem.

*We will also be debuting another comic at SPACE, the first-ever mini-comic written and drawn by Electric Team creator Abi Connor. That is, assuming she gets it done on time. But I believe that she will.

Here she is working on it:

Fun with Cartography

We’ve got a map on our new page, and I’m pretty excited by it.

A couple of weeks ago, Abi and I had the day off school, and we spent the morning working on a map. We got a giant piece of paper and tried to fit everything we know so far about the world of the Electric Team onto it. It’s not finished, but we got most of it done. Here’s a sample:

The trick was to fit together the maps from Chapter 1, Chapter 2, and Chapter 4, as well as the details from the Plant Man story that Nat and Sam did and the Mr. Amazing story that Josh Burnett and I did. Nat’s story implied that Plant Man’s home, the Hidden Grove, had to be in the north somewhere, near the Electric Team’s current location. And the Mr. Amazing story included a number of geographical references, like these:

So now you can more or less trace the route our heroes have followed since defeating Major Ager. And, since the new map includes the Fungus Forest and Yob, you can see how it fits together with these two previous maps:

The Truth About E.D.I.C.T.

by leighton on February 21, 2017
Posted In: Uncategorized

In today’s new page, we learn that Jaxula is an agent of E.D.I.C.T. We’ve known since page 11 that he was an “interdimensional peace-keeper,” but only now do we find out the name of his organization. I’m excited to finally share this information, since I’ve been holding onto that name for a little over a year.

Do you have an acronym guy? I’ve got an acronym guy, and his name is Josh Burnett. In early 2016 I messaged Josh and asked him to come up with a good acronym for an organization that dealt with protecting different dimensions. In no time at all he came up with two options, and they were both good, but E.D.I.C.T. fit better. Thanks, Josh!

Anyway, I was eager to get E.D.I.C.T.’s name into the comic, which is why the dialogue on this page is a little exposition-heavy. Sorry!
