First-grader Abigail Connor is eager to show you the second issue of The Electric Team, the all-ages fantasy-adventure comic she created. Abby will be debuting the comic on Saturday, April 9th, at SPACE (the Small Press and Alternative Comics Expo) in Columbus, Ohio, alongside Electric Team scripter Leighton Connor (who is also her dad), and Electric Team artist Samantha Albert (who is not related). If you can’t make it to Columbus, don’t worry, you can order issue 1, and will soon be able to order issue 2, here.

The Electric Team takes place in a shattered world where magic and technology have run amok. Leeta, a young woman who was raised by unicorns, leads five other heroes in a mission to restore civilization and turn the electricity back on. To achieve their goals, the Electric Team must defeat 1000 villains; in the first issue, they battle Commander McCarrot and his vegetroids, and in the second, they travel to find the insidious Major Ager, only to be attacked by ferocious flying panda bears.

The Electric Team combines high fantasy, science fiction, sword-and-sorcery, and more, drawing on works as diverse as He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and Kamandi, the Last Boy on Earth. It’s imagination and wonder, with an occasional note of melancholy.

Though The Electric Team is published in comic book form, you don’t have to wait for the next issue—the story is serialized at www.electricteamcomic.com, with a new installment released every Tuesday and Friday.

Abigail Connor created most of the characters and concepts in The Electric Team and collaborates on planning the stories. She is seven years old. She loves comics, drawing, and playing with her friends. She plans one day to be a school principal, a dancer, and an artist.

Leighton Connor, who scripts The Electric Team, is one of the artists behind the Seeing Calvino tumblr, the illustrator of The Twible: All the Chapters of the Bible in 140 Characters or Less by Jana Riess, and the creator of the Laser Brigade web comic. He is a co-founder of Hex Games, and has written numerous RPG books, including Laser Ponies and Leopard Women of Venus.

Samantha Albert graduated from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design in 2013 and is now devoting her creative energies to bringing The Electric Team to life.

You can meet the team behind The Electric Team at SPACE, the Small Press and Alternative Comics Expo, which will be held on Saturday, April 9th, from 10 – 6, and Sunday, April 10th, from 10 – 5, at the Northland Performing Arts Center in Columbus. Admission is free. Find out more here.

The Electric Team #2 is a 24 page color comic that retails for $3.99, published by Zimberwack Comics. If you have any questions, you can contact the creative team at [email protected].
